‘평소 뭐하며 지내요?’라고 물어오면, 

나는 ‘그림을 그려요.’하고 대답한다. 

그러면 ‘화가세요?.’ 라고 되물어온다. 

화가, 작가, 아티스트라고 하면 

뭔가 아주 특별한 기질을 갖고 있어야 할 것 같고, 

그렇게 불리우는 것이 아직은 쑥스러워서 

그냥 그림을 그린다고 나를 소개한다. 

 아트, 예술이란 무엇인가. 

국어사전을 찾아보니 ‘특별할 재료, 기교, 양식 따위로 

감상의 대상이 되는 아름다움을 표현하려는 

인간의 활동 및 그 작품.’이라고 정의되어있다. 

그럼 나는 현재 예술을 하고 있는가…

When I asked, "What do you usually do?" 

I answer, "I draw and paint." 

Then they ask back, "Are you an artist?" 

Artists are usually expected 

to have a very special disposition. 

Therefore I'm still embarrassed to be called that, 

so I introduce myself that I just paint. 

 Art, what is art? 

Looking up the dictionary, it is defined as 

"human activities and works to express the beauty 

that is the object of appreciation 

with special materials, techniques, and styles." 

Then am I currently doing art?
